Columbus Day!

Christopher Reeves seems to be the top story this morning, http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041011/ap_on_en_mo/obit_reeve&cid=502&ncid=716 I never had much respect for his work, even when the media made him the poster boy for the physically challenged. I did admire what he did regarding his work regarding spinal cord injuries.

That Reeves is the big news in the midst of the news from Australia,
http://nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/31578.htm Not to mention the odd comments by John Kerry in the NY Times Sunday Magazine, hoping to get the terrorism threat 'back to being' a law enforcement type of problem, along the lines of prostitution and drug use, http://volokh.com/archives/archive_2004_10_07.shtml#1097452028

"...When I asked Kerry what it would take for Americans to feel safe again, he displayed a much less apocalyptic worldview. "We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance," Kerry said. "As a former law-enforcement person, I know we're never going to end prostitution. We're never going to end illegal gambling. But we're going to reduce it, organized crime, to a level where it isn't on the rise. It isn't threatening people's lives every day, and fundamentally, it's something that you continue to fight, but it's not threatening the fabric of your life..."
